William Summers, Sr. Obituary
Rock Hill – Mr. William Clinton Summers, Sr. 90, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Carolina Gardens, York, SC.
Memorial service will be 10:00 am Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church, 830 Jones Ave N, Rock Hill. SC 29730, with the Rev. Roger Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
A native of Rutherfordton, NC, Mr. Summers was a son of the late Oscar E Summers and Eliza Blanton Summers. He attended Rutherfordton-Spindale Central High School of Rutherford County. He joined the United States Air Force and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving in the Korean War. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Rock Hill, SC. He also had sung in the choir at various other churches. He proposed to his wife while attending a New York Yankees game. He was an avid North Carolina Tarheels fan. He also enjoyed going to the beach. The thing that he will be remembered for the most was his love for his family.
Surviving are his son, Christopher Summers (Christine); a grandson, Noah Summers; a daughter-in-law, Lauri Dewhurst-Summers; John Kessler (Cassie); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Butler Summers; his son, William Clinton Summers, Jr. and his siblings, Louvina Dobbins, Walter Summers, Nelly Goode, Francis Summers, Jennie Brewer, and R.J. Summers.
Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 830 North Jones Ave. Rock Hill, SC 29730.
