Sue Ellen (Nauman) Courtright, 69, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at WillowBrook Court at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents Edward and Nora ( Layton ) Staples and paternal grandparents Joel and Laura Nauman.

Sue was married to her beloved husband, Dennis. for nearly 45 years and was the proud mother of a son, Heath, who married Gail (Evan) Courtright in 2009. Sue was  blessed with and the proud grandmother two grandsons, 8 year old Chase and 6 year old Nathan Courtright. Her brother Terry and his wife Carol also remain, live in Stroudsburg, PA, and will cherish her memory as well.

Mrs. Courtright attended East Stroudsburg Joint High School, graduating in 1971. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University. She then entered the work force where she thrived in various administrative positions at Security Bank and Trust in Stroudsburg and subsequently at Burlington County Trust Co. in Moorestown, NJ. For many years, she also was a substitute teacher in the Medford, NJ area. She was a member of the DAR. She was an active volunteer as a youth and during her entire adult life; from involvement with the PTA while her son was in school to helping with activities at WillowBrook while a resident there. Throughout her life, her foundation was her faith in the Lord. She was an active member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church in her youth and became an active member of the Medford United Methodist Church in Medford, NJ after moving with her husband to this area in 1978. Still a member there up until her passing, she also had been a Sunday school teacher for 15 years and managed the Flower Fund for 10 years.

Sue loved her family and she especially loved being a mother to Heath. She was a proud homemaker and devoted wife. She loved her family and friends dearly. She doted on her two special grandsons; they brought her much joy. She also loved travelling both domestically and internationally. She enjoyed the National Parks System and on her travels visited over 40 states and no less than 35 countries around the world. She was inquisitive and open to seeing the world. She was always on the go. She loved a new adventure and followed her heart. She was known for her easy smile, selflessness, and willingness to help others. She was a wonderful gift to anyone who was fortunate to know her. She touched each person in a special way, and her light and goodness will continue to return in so many unexpected ways to those who knew her.
