Shirley (Helms) Coln

Mrs. Shirley Helms Coln, 67 of Fort Mill went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 27, 2020 following a period of declining health.

Shirley was born on May 9, 1953 in Rock Hill to the late Fred and Lacy Hensley Helms. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and she had a few favorite places to eat around town although Captain Steve’s was her first choice. Shirley will be remembered as loving mother, grandmother sister and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Michael” Coln and her sister Brenda Reece.

Those left to cherish her memory include her fiancé John Long of the home, son Jody and wife Crystal, brother Charles Helms and two sisters Sue Plyler and Kaye Hilton. Also surviving are her grandchildren Isabella and Alexa Coln and her faithful K9 companion Jack “Man” Coln.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 6:00PM in the Chapel of Palmetto Funeral Home, Fort Mill. The family will receive friends following the service at Palmetto Funeral Home.

Those who are not able to attend can join the service virtually by following and liking the Palmetto Funeral Group Facebook Page. A live stream of the service will begin at 6:00PM on Thursday.
