Linda Dellinger

Linda Ellen Sellars Dellinger, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  Born  April 28, 1942 in Statesville, NC. Daughter of Clara Milan Sellars and Jerome Eugene Sellars. She was also raised by Mayce and Henry B. “Red” Sellers. She was preceded in death by Clara and Jerome Sellars, Mayce and Red Sellers, a sister and best friend Betty S. Rose, brothers Larry M. Sellars and Jerry Sellars, her son David B. Dellinger and grandson, John David (JD) Dellinger.

Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Dean Dellinger; her son John C. Dellinger; daughter Lori Whisonant (Jeff), daughter-in-law Ronna Oates Dellinger, brothers Ray Sellars and Pat Sellars, 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly, many nieces and nephews, and her “bright and shining star”, granddaughter Megan Whisonant.

Linda graduated in 1960 from Winthrop Training School and later from the School of Practical Nursing.   She worked at Piedmont Medical Center for 20 years, working mostly in the Nursery, Pediatrics, and the Pharmacy.  

Linda, also lovingly known as Ms. D., loved to read (especially her many bibles) and to spend time at her favorite store, Shepherd’s Fold.  Here she would carefully pick bookmarks, pens, and other items, as she made this her mission to pray over these items and joyfully share with everyone she met. She was the epitome of kindness and grace; of patience and forgiveness. Simply put, to know her was to love her. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 7PM at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home with pastor Jerry Devinney officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The service is to be live streamed via Youtube and Facebook (Palmetto Funeral Group).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society.
