Eugene K Swanton

Eugene K. Swanton, age 95 passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at his home. Born in Orange, NJ, Gene grew up in East Orange and joined the United States Army in 1945. After serving in the Army, Gene married his beloved wife and started his own successful oil business, Swanton Bros Inc., where he enjoyed serving customers in the northern part of the state. He lived most of his life in New Jersey before relocating with MaryLou to Rock Hill, SC in 2014 to be closer to his children and grandchildren, He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Gene was also known to be the unbreakable limb of the family tree who could help piece together generations of the Swanton family with pictures and wonderful memories.

Gene is predeceased by his wife MaryLou (Ridgway); parents Rose and Abraham Swanton; siblings Abrahm, Alice, Robert, Marion, James, Phillip, Clifford, John and William. Left to cherish Gene's memory is his beloved daughter Susan Wagner; son Kevin Swanton; grandchildren Frank Wagner (Jessica) and Kaylee Wagner; great grandchildren Zeppelin and Gabriella. 

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 11:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Rock Hill, SC. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Eugene's honor to the Leukemia Society or FootHills Golden Retriever Rescue.
