Brenda Hundley-Harper Obituary

Brenda Hundley Harper, a daughter of the late Frank Leslie and Jennie B. Hundley, was born and reared in Buffalo, New York. She graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo and married Kevin Harper in 1992. To this union was born her precious children Lauren Jennie (27) and Kevin Anthony II (23).
A natural caregiver, she began her career as an early childhood educator. While training to dialyze her late older brother Richard, his physicians recognized her excellent grasp for medicine. They hired her to work for them as a dialysis technician at the Artificial Kidney Center in Buffalo. While in Buffalo, she also actively volunteered for the AKC of Western New York. She worked there until she and Kevin moved to Charlotte in 1995. She then served as a patient care coordinator at Mecklenburg Medical Group Pineville.

Brenda served her family and the Kingdom of God as a wife and mother, rearing her children to be young disciples of Christ. Brenda was also active serving in her church, Nations Ford Community Church, for more than two decades. She served in the Children's ministry when her own children were young and held a leadership role in the Married Couples ministry teaching pre-marital classes with her husband. Perhaps her biggest passion, Brenda dutifully served in the Room in the Inn ministry, which served a multitude of Charlotte’s most in-need women and children. From cooking meals to managing volunteer teams, her impact on the ministry has been tangible, and she was awarded in 2017 the Women of Legacy Award at Nations Ford for her dedicated service. Brenda also helped establish the Loaves & Fishes food bank at the church, feeding dozens of families each week prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Brenda loved the Lord, had a passion for people and believes that everyone is entitled to filling meals and a safe place to sleep at night. She lives her life in full commitment to her favorite scripture, “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer,” (Psalm 19:14). Her love for the Lord gave her the strength and determination to do all things through Him and for Him.

After a lengthy illness, on May 10, 2021, the Lord saw fit to call home His faithful servant. She leaves to miss her big personality her husband Kevin, children Lauren and Kevin, older brothers Bruce (Emma) and Jerome (Nichelle), sisters Ganella Copeland, Olivia Moore (Nicholas), Linda Jefferson (Curtis), Celeta Hundley and Jeanea Hundley Colston (Gregory). She leaves thirteen nieces and nephews, nineteen great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. She will also be especially missed by her dearly loved friends Lynne and Arnold Grevious, Carman and Patrick Washington, Laura Powell, Jaci Mathis, and Janice and Allen Anderson. Brenda is predeceased by her parents and brothers Frank L. and Richard L. Hundley.
Brenda lived her life and was an example of two of her other favorite Scriptures, Philippians 2:3, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves,” and the verse written on each box of her delicious cakes, Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for human masters.”

To God be the glory, forever and always."
